The immune system is the body’s way of protecting itself from disease and according to the CDC – there are a few things you can do to enhance your immunity and help yourself out!

Often times the things our body needs are simple: nutritious food mixed with a balance of movement and rest. As we approach the months where staying healthy feels nearly impossible – it’s even more important to listen to your body. Here are a few questions you can ask yourself to assess your immunity during the sick season:

  1.  How am I eating? Make sure to include plenty of fruits and vegetables, lean protein, whole grains, and low-fat dairy products in your daily diet. Focusing on fueling your body well supports optimal immune function!
  2. How much am I moving? Regular physical activity boosts immunity. Make yourself a realistic goal and stick to it! Whether it’s going on a 30-minute walk every day or going to your favorite gym class a few times a week – make movement a top priority!
  3. Am I getting adequate sleep? While exercise matters, so does rest! When you’re not getting enough sleep, your immune system will be weakened. Do what you need to do to get those 7-9 hours of sleep every night!
  4. What are my vices? Overindulgence in alcohol is linked to a weak immune system. In addition, smoking in general increases the risk of immune system problems. Even too much time using technology can have negative side effects. Keep an eye on your vices and be aware of how they can affect your overall health.

Start asking yourself these questions and encourage your team to think about them too! A healthy team is a productive, profitable team.
