LA Lakers & Dodgers COVID Testing Mandate

Planning to catch a Lakers game or a concert at Dodger Stadium? Before heading out, you’ll need to understand the Staples Center COVID rules and other testing mandates that could impact your visit(s). Under the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, as well as the city of Los Angeles, these guidelines are intended to help large crowds safely navigate the reopening process as responsibly as possible. Find out when and where around LA you need a negative COVID-19 test prior to entry.

Los Angeles Lakers & Staples Center COVID Mandate

The Los Angeles Lakers opened the season with all players fully vaccinated. The arena they call home requires the same for all spectators unless they show proof of a negative COVID-19 test less than 72 hours before gametime. Face coverings are also required for everyone ages 2 and older – regardless of vaccination status. The Staples Center says these new safety protocols are in place to provide visitors not only a safe, but enjoyable experience.

For proof of full vaccination, attendees must show either a physical COVID-19 vaccination record (the CDC’s white card or the WHO’s yellow card) or a photo of the card – either hard copy or electronically. They can also bring other vaccination documents from a healthcare provider. Any vaccination record must show the attendee’s name, the type of vaccine they received, and the date(s) of each dose.

Unvaccinated spectators must show proof of a negative PCR or antigen COVID-19 viral test taken less than 3 days (72 hours) prior to the event. Results must clearly show the name of the person tested, the type and date of the test, and of course the negative result.

Dodger Stadium COVID-19 Testing

Similar rules apply for events at Dodger Stadium. That’s because any large-scale outdoor event in Los Angeles (5,000 people or more) must require full vaccination or a recent negative test for attendees 12 and older to gain entry. Masks are required for “mega” events with 10,000 or more people in attendance, but only recommended for outdoor crowds under 10,000.

The Major League Baseball season might be over, but there are plenty of concerts and other events at Dodger Stadium that still fall under these rules. Other affected outdoor venues/events could include:

  • Theme parks
  • Parades
  • Marathons
  • Waterparks
  • Festivals
  • Car Shows
  • Conferences
  • Exhibitions
  • Fairs
